The Campaign to Liberate Freedom has just begun.
As a not-for-profit, all volunteer endeavor, we are initiating things slowly and organically, allowing the Campaign to find its own rhythm.
Simultaneously, we are also openly inviting and encouraging groups, organizations, and individuals, of all types and associations, worldwide, to partner with us (in anyway that makes sense to you) and make this campaign your own campaign. It is our intention, ultimately, to promote the liberation of freedom as a “way of life,” and not just a great idea.
Nelson Mandela reminds us of how this is done. “When I walked out of prison... my mission [was] to liberate the oppressed and the oppressor both. ... For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
Martin Luther King also reminded us that we are all in this together, that your freedom and my freedom were inseparable. “All persons are tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. . . .This is the interrelated structure of reality.”
In addition, we are aware there are 10,000 great ways that already exist to pour your heart, time, and resources into. And the Campaign to Liberate Freedom is one among them.
We claim nothing more or less, than being a small group of activists making a modest attempt to elevate our most precious human value and in so doing bring some hope and joy to as many people as possible who come to this site, as well as shine light on Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma’s imprisoned Nobel Peace laureate, and to whom this Campaign is dedicated.
It is our hope, through our collective efforts, that this great woman be freed from her unjust incarceration and allowed to lead the country she was duly elected to lead. In addition, once freed, we hope that she will be invited to United Nations on behalf of a free and democratic Burma, and address the General Assembly, and the world.
And perhaps, in the meantime, this great woman and profound leader will be elected as our next U.N. Secretary General, even under the terms of the imprisonment that she is now subjected. It would be a rather ironic twist that her captors announce that she is now the UN’s new Secretary General, but you are far too dangerous to the world for us to allow you to fulfill that role.
Is there such a thing as a nonviolent terrorist?
I'm afraid those who live by the gun are terrorized of those who live from the heart. It is our intention to use these Campaign to promote deep reconciliation with the Generals who have incarcerated her, not seek their harm.
If you wish to partner with us and in anyway whatsoever, you are openly invited. Either as a media sponsor writing articles about us, or a radio station that wants to tell their listenership about us, or a TV program that wants to highlight the Campaign. The creative affiliations are endless. And all are invited.
Of course, please feel free to link our site to your own, and rebroadcast our Campaign film, as well as put into regular rotation the audio only version. Or make your own PSA about the Campaign, or send out our details in a newsletter, or any number of other ways. All support is appreciated. After all, we are all in this together.
