To Act with Relentless Integrity
November 4th, 2006

There is a drive in live organisms towards complexity, as life develops, living beings become more sophisticated and interdependent; the inanimate world, on the other hand, tends towards simplification, complex molecules break down into simpler ones, and electrons flow to lower energy states; without this collaborative ‘dance,’ the intricate functions of life are impossible.
‘Life’ extends to humankind a speck of its cosmic intelligence, yet our capacity to grasp its creative dimensions is still minimal. We have reached a turning point. We are invited to learn the complex principles of interconnected freedom, within our psyche, as development of awareness, and externally in the social structures and relationships we create, or be lead by our egoism to destroy our environment and ourselves.
As a kaleidoscope human freedom has multiple facets.
Our individual outer freedom is contingent on the freedom enjoyed by our society and its political structure, as well as by the worldwide puzzle of countries, their interactions and the interactions of each individual within these structures. Our inner freedom on the other hand, is only as strong and alive as it lives in our consciousness.
In every corner of the world and within our psyche, we are facing the old habits of violence, revenge, greediness and fear; these habits survive only in an environment of denial. If we are uncompromisingly truthful, violence has no ground to live, if there is no ground for violence within, there is no violence actualized in the world.
Inner honesty requires a sophisticated capacity to pinpoint our own deceit. The energy freed by this understanding naturally flows towards compassion and expansive creativity. The prisoner must be released, but even more urgent is the liberation of the jailer.
Aung San Suu Kyi is imprisoned yet her consciousness is perfectly free.
While she is in prison, the rest of us bear responsibility, if we don’t actively raise our voice, we collaborate as jailers of creative force. It is time to say: “No more! We will not accept that our kin be killed, abused or imprisoned in any country, under any regime.”
How much creativity will be unleashed when these forces of control and fear stop tying our hands? How committed are we to free ourselves and act with relentless integrity, to offer ourselves as partners to life, and actualize our fullest potential?
