Learn more about the World Dharma Online Institute - Exploring Activism Consciousness and Art

I am a great believer in actions following words, and action often means sacrifice.

And what are people, all the activists, myself included, really ready to sacrifice in order to follow their words?

Freedom is a bit like good health, we’re often acutely unaware of it while we have it, and once it’s gone it’s all we can think about.

And one does not truly understand freedom if they’ve always had it and never lost it.

I am fortunate in that I have always had freedom, but there is something I feel on a deep level when I read reports and see pictures of people imprisoned, people suffering in unimaginable ways such as in Darfur. Your question asking what are we really ready to do, to sacrifice in order to follow our words now resonates in my mind. I don’t know what I would be willing to sacrifice.
