Face Freedom With Eyes Open
September 23rd, 2006

Lao Tsu said:
“To accept one’s destiny is to face life with open eyes. Not to accept one’s destiny is to face death blindfolded.”
How could one be free from something that one does not accept? How could the present or the future offer anything but suspicion and danger if one fears it?
It is apparent in life that one gains and loses things — money, health, eyesight, slimness, friends…. if not by change, then by death…
A mistake is made when , after gaining something —
a skill, a friend, an item — one does not also incorporate
its automatic eventual loss. This leads one to the sense
that one is trapped into an unwanted future.
Freedom is the sense that arrives when the truth arrives:
None of this world is yours, unless all of this world is yours.
This is to accept ones destiny. and face freedom with open eyes.
