Oh freedom! What do you mean to me? More precious than precious, greater than any state can be. Without it, life is an anomaly, because we can not function properly.

Without freedom, I wouldn’t be living peacefully with a physical challenge which presently affects my freedom of movement. If I was living within oppression and war, my ‘problem’ would send me straight down the primitive ladder to ‘survival of the fittest’. The consequence would be unthinkable; however I see it happening around the world in various devastating forms.

With this awareness, I celebrate the preciousness of freedom in every way, and honor its presence. The good fortune of living in a free society enables me to be who I am today. Supported and encouraged to express my creative spirit; I have been given the gift to fly despite my physical confinement— to discover the state of apparent stillness within, find peace and joy with it; and share!

The freedom I experience is unique to physically challenged folks who have found equilibrium within their lives despite limited ‘freedom of movement’. Revealing fragility and imperfection, such people gain liberation through the exposure of basic humanness. Layers of ego peel away and the true human being is freed to play.

Freedom to play! That’s what freedom should have the liberty to convey. In spite of all the hardships our lives entail, our global society needs to awaken to the spirit of the child, and play again. Let’s elevate each other and create limitless ripple effects through selfless service; continuous acts of kindness, and raising awareness/performing action in helping everyone on the planet move into liberation.
